Iām Maria Tudela from Spain, the visual artist behind Purple Fish. Inspired by human nature, my art is an attempt to free the innermost reality of the human psyche by creating kinky colorful illustrations and playing with melancholic magical surrealism. My pieces are usually accompanied by a short story that gives life to the character.
I believe that being an artist is something that one is born to do and not learned and so I went on to research through practical experience, learning through trial and error and studying the works of contemporary Spanish artists such as Ana Santos or Elena Garnu; and the works of renowned painters like Klimt; and I also found inspiration in literature and poetry through the works of Kerouac and Scott Fidgeraltz.
My art has been exhibited in Spain and in Dubai since 2019. I work primarily in digital art and I currently work from Dubai.
I drew my first digital illustrations in 2014 with my fingers running over the 5āā screen of an old Samsung Galaxy.
